Didcot based Civilian Instructor Mo Merchant will be fulfilling a life long dream this summer when she carries the Olympic Torch through Oxfordshire.
Mo was nominated for this top honour by Flying Officer Jane Wicks, Adjutant at Didcot Air Cadet’s as a way of rewarding her for her years of dedication to the Air Training Corps. Following a career in the Royal Air Force, Mo joined the Air Cadets in the 1980’s ending up holding the prestigious Wing Warrant Officer role. Since hanging up her uniform she has continued to be a dedicated volunteer.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Air Cadets said “we are all so proud of Mo – after a lifetime of service she is being recognised in such a public way for her dedication to duty. As well as being such a hard worker she is also one of the most popular people in the Wing – well done Mo!”.
