Banbury Air Cadets were joined other cadets from Kidlington and Chipping Norton to celebrate Battle of Britain Sunday by parading through Banbury Town Centre.
Lead by the Squadron band the cadets, joined by contingents from the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, Royal British Legion and Royal Air Force Association, marched through the town and past the world famous Banbury cross for a service and act of remembrance at St Mary’s Church.
Following the parade the cadets marched past local dignitaries including the Squadron Leader Stephen New MBE and Squadron Leader Palmer from Thames Valley Wing. Afterwards the cadets and staff joined the Town Mayor, Councillors, Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire and veterans for a reception event at Banbury Town Hall.
Local spokesman, Flying Officer Matt Lodge, summed up the occasion “The Air Cadets provided an excellent light blue turnout and led the parade in style”. He continued “Many of the dignitaries and veterans thanked the cadets and staff after the parade for supporting the event and remembering the few”
