Didcot Squadron Awards

A busy night at 2410 (Didcot) Squadron with new recruits joining us for an open night as well as Cadets passing their blue leadership course. Congratulations to those awarded with their blue badges as well as DofE certificate for progress in the Silver Award!

RAF Benson Families Day

Cadets from 2410 (Didcot) Squadron had a busy day at RAF Benson today! It was Families Day, and as well as helping out, the cadets got to watch the air show, which included Chinook and Puma helicopters, and the RAF Falcons! There were plenty of other exhibits on display, including classic cars, fire engines – the cadets even got to meet the crew of a visiting USAF Osprey aircraft and take a quick tour! Well done to all cadets and volunteers for their hard work!

STEM

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets is at the forefront of STEM activities and last week the Cadets from 2410 (Didcot) Squadron were learning new skills in robotics and programming with the aid of battery operated tracked vehicles.

We won’t be stopping there, with more STEM activities in planning for the Air Cadets of Didcot.

Gliding at Didcot Squadron

Cadets from 2410 (Didcot) Squadron have returned to the air with 622 Volunteer Gliding Squadron of the RAF Air Cadets at Upavon Airfield in the Viking T1 glider.

As our return to service picks up we look forwards to taking part in the full range of activities on offer including further gliding and eventually powered flying.

Didcot return to Face-to-Face

After more than a year of virtual only activities 2410 (Didcot) Squadron is back at our Headquarters in Newlands Avenue!

Tonight our volunteers welcomed back our Cadet NCOs and we look forwards to seeing the rest of the Squadron over the course of the month and delivering face to face activities safely and covid securely.

Didcot Squadron are back!

We are back! After more than a year since the first lockdown paused all Air Cadet activity the Cadets and Staff of 2410 (Didcot) Squadron have met for their first face-to-face event of 2021 for a day walk in the Oxfordshire countryside around Blewbury.
We will be returning to parade nights in May and can’t wait to see what we can accomplish over the coming year.

Combe Gibbet Walk

Knowing the importance a keeping active. It was on a cold autumnal morning, that a socially distanced group of Thames Valley staff gathered at the car park near Walbury Hill. At 279m above sea level this is the highest point in Berkshire. We met for a walk in the local countryside.  This was aimed at maintaining staff currency for walking in the outdoors. The area is also good territory for completing DofE expeditions. Continue reading

Witney Squadron Make a Return

Very cautiously and very carefully, we are BACK! On Tuesday, 20th October 2020, we did the first of five inductions planned to return our Cadets in their new, smaller flights and familiarise them with the new building layout and procedures introduced to make (and keep) us a COVID safe environment.
