Two Cadets from Thames Valley Wing attended the ACO National Concert Band Camp held at RAF Northolt last week. CPL Natasha Gavin (211 Newbury Sqn) and CPL Ben Goodall (150 City of Oxford Sqn) were selected from the February camp to be apart of the recording, with CPL Goodall performing a solo in one of the tracks. The camp was to prepare for a professional recording on the Friday and Saturday.
The CD of 11 tracks is all about the “stage and screen” with tracks from Les Miserables, Oliver and Chicago, plus many more.
Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty visited the band on Thursday and was very impressed with the standard of music. She has vowed to make the CD available for purchase in the RAFA Catalogue where a number of Air Cadet merchandise is already available. CD Estimated to be availble late December early January.
“Yet again, I find myself writing to you to say thank you for allowing me the privilege of witnessing an exceptional musical performance by our hugely talented National Concert Band. I was so pleased I found the time to pop in and see your rehearsals for the professional recording that they will be doing tomorrow and Saturday. If the quality of the rehearsals is anything to go by, it will be a fantastic CD and I for one will buy one and recommend it to all.”
– Air Cdre McCafferty
Air Vice Marshall Andrew Turner from 22 group also popped in for a quick visit whislt attending the Drill and Ceremonial camp that was also running concurrently. Air Vice Marshall Turner was extremely impressed with the Band and took the time to speak with them during their break from recording.
