76 uniformed members of staff from Thames Valley Wing have been awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
The members of staff were presented with the medal by Air Commodore Paul Lyall OBE of the Joint Services Defence College during a high profile parade at Dalton Barracks; in front of family, friends and guests. The start of the parade saw Air Commodore Lyall taking the salute while a pair of Vigilant T Mk 1 motor gliders performed a flypast in perfect formation.
Wing Spokesman Squadron Leader Mark Trevena said: This medal is in recognition of the long service and continued commitment that our volunteer adult staff have given to the Air Cadets. The efforts staff teams are always appreciated however we rarely have the opportunity to reward them for all their hard work and dedication and we ;were delighted that Air Commodore Lyall could be with us today to present the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal to each of our uniformed staff.’
After the parade finished a social event was held with a bouncy castle, pig roast and real ale bar together with a chance to fly on a high end flight simulator.
