Cadet Sergeant Alipio Reis of 2211 (Bracknell) Squadron has been appointed the Lord Lieutenants Cadet at a sparkling ceremony held at Reading University. During the coming year he will attend high profile events to support the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, Mrs Mary Bayliss JP.
Although he has only been a cadet since July 2007 he is a good all rounder undertaking all the ATC has to offer including his Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver Award, the Young Lifesaver Plus first Aid Qualification as well as training to fly solo in military motor gliders. He continues his interest in Flying and has been awarded a Flying Scholarship by the RAF and is working towards his Private Pilots Licence. A highlight of his time with the ATC was achieved earlier this year when he was selected to represent the Corps on an International Cadet Exchange to the United States of America. He attended the prestigious Air Cadet Leadership course last year at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell, finishing as the best Cadet on the Course; he has also gained a BTEC Diploma in Aviation Studies and is working on the BTEC Award in Public Services.
Wing Commander Chris Fisher said “Sgt Reis is one of the very best cadets from my Berkshire units and demonstrates outstanding public presence. He was selected by competition to win my nomination as the Air Training Corps Lord Lieutenants Cadet for Berkshire”.
