Britwell Air Cadets were in the silverware after winning the lions share of the medals and trophies at the Thames Valley Wing Athletics Championships held at Abingdon’s Tilsey Park.

Over 200 cadets and 50 staff took part in glorious sunshine; battling it out to be crowned champions. 11 events were on offer across 5 age categories headed up by Flight Sergeant Barry Tweddle, the Wing Sports Officer.

After a full day of competition, the results were counted and the trophies made ready for presentation. In the male competition pre-competition favourites 2211 (Bracknell) Squadron were narrowly beaten by the 2477 (Britwell) Cadet with a count back of trophies needed after a tie on points. In the female stakes Britwell had a clear win after an early challenge from 2267 (Brize Norton) Squadron. The overall saw the 35 strong Britwell team crowned triumphant with Brize Norton in 2nd and Bracknell in 3rd.

A team of 50 cadets will now go forward to represent the Wing at the South West Regional Championships.
