The teams from 2267 (Brize Norton) Squadron dominated the Thames Valley Wing 5-a-Side Competition held at RAF Benson. Both the male and female teams edged there way confidently through the early rounds before being place against formidable opposition in the finals.
In the key games of the day the Brize Girls team faced against a confident team from 2507 (Bicester) Squadron only for the game to end in a penalty shoot out. The boys faced a similar final against 1116 (Woodley) Squadron with the deciding goal being awarded being a highly contensious shot from the penalty spot.
In total 180 cadets from 18 Squadrons throughout Berkshire and Oxfordshire took part in the tournament which was organised by the Wing Sports Officer – Flight Sergeant Barry Jackson-Tweddle and his team of referees and officials.
