Easter 2013 had a new twist for a number of members of staff and cadets from across Thames valley Wing as they enjoyed the hospitality of RAF High Wycombe during their Easter Camp.
Despite the snow, frost and freezing temperatures the camp enjoyed a whole host of activities including trips to the RAF Museum at Hendon, a visit to RAF Halton, Hell Fire Caves and the C17 and C130 fleets at RAF Brize Norton.
Sqn Ldr Beardsley takes up the story “nothing was ever too much trouble from any of the sections, they pulled out all the stops to make our camp a complete success.”
In addition to the usual camp activities, there was also a high ropes exercise at RAF Halton, orienteering in the snow at Wendover Woods, plus an abseiling exercise which everyone participated in, even the Camp Commandant. The visit to RAF Brize Norton was undoubtedly a highlight with tours around both 216 and 33 Squadrons and an entertaining afternoon at both the Fire and ATC sections.
