Cadets from Thames Valley Wing have been putting themselves in the news at their first weeklong Media Camp held at Pirbright Camp in Surrey.
The cadets learnt lots of new skills including photography, copy writing, newsletters, film making and presentation skills during the week as they provided media cover for the Wing’s annual greens camp.
Led by South West Region’s Media Communications Officer, Sqn Ldr John Nicholson, the cadets worked to tight deadlines creating material for a daily newsletter in addition to regular updates on the “Thames Valley Air Cadets” Facebook page and creating news releases for local papers. On the VIP day, they not only provided media cover but they also formed the nucleus of a team that gave presentations to visitors to the camp.
Camp Commandant for the main camp was Sqn Ldr Mark Trevena “it was fantastic having the media team on hand to create news material – normally we are so busy running the activities we rarely get a chance to take photographs but on this camp we a whole DVD full of them!”
