Over 400 Cadets and staff from Thames Valley Wing helped the RAF celebrate its 90th anniversary in style, with a parade at RAF Halton.
The Reviewing Officer, who inspected all 400 cadets and 30 staff on parade, was Group Captain Richard Gammage, Station Commander RAF Halton. Other VIPs included Air Commodore John Lamont from MoD Abbey Wood and the Mayors of Witney and Abingdon. Continue reading →

Cadets from the Berkshire units of Thames Valley Wing recently showed their ability to the full by winning the top award for small bore target shooting.
The Inter-Services and Nowell Cup competitions are held annually with teams from the Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps competing. Continue reading →
The Mayor of Reading, Councilor Chris Maskell, was the guest at a parade at to celebrate the 67th Anniversary of the formation of the Air Training Corps.
The parade, held at Brock Barracks in Reading was a major spectacle with some 80 Cadets and staff on Parade drawn from Central Area Squadrons from Henley, Reading, Woodley, Earley, Aldermaston, Burghfield, and Wallingford. Continue reading →
The Thames Valley Wing units at Burghfield and Cowley have been regraded to Squadron status.
The promotion to Squadron status has been due to the resurgence in numbers at both Squadrons. The news was relayed by Group Captain Mike Remlinger, Regional Commandant, the day after a successful visit to Burghfield where he saw the cadets getting involved with Radio Controlled Flying and planning a major charity event.
The units will now be known as 2402 (Burghfield) Squadron and 2210 (Cowley) Squadron.
Two Thames Valley Officers were amongst 27 uniformed staff from the Air Cadet Organization who have received nationally recognized qualifications from Admiral the Lord West of Spithead at a Graduation Ceremony held at RAF College Cranwell. Continue reading →
Almost 30 Thames Valley Wing Cadets, Staff and Civilian Committee Members have been awarded prestigious awards by Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Gordon Moulds.
The awards were held at a glittering ceremony at Oxford’s Falklands House. After the awards the Commandant said “I hold the ACO Volunteer in extremely high regard as without the efforts of the volunteer there is not an organization. I am extremely pleased to have been given the opportunity to express my personal thanks and appreciation”

Cadet Sergeant Emma Wright, 16, from 447 (Henley-on-Thames) Squadron is aiming for success in the 2012 Olympics after being selected to attend the Great Britain Junior Rifle Squad.
Emma, who has been a cadet for 4 years in the Oxfordshire Squadron, found she had a natural talent for small-bore shooting when she first fired the No.8 cadet rifle at 447 Henley Sqn her home unit scoring a highly respectable 85 out of 100. Now, she has joined Maidenhead Target Rifle Club where she shoots 3 positional at 50m. Continue reading →
