Last night we said happy birthday and goodbye to Cadet Warrant Officer Dwight as he has now reached the age of 20 and is now moving to 2121 Abingdon Squadron as an Adult volunteer.
2410 Didcot Squadron has a mascot called Nigel. He has now adopted a jet setting lifestyle as Cadets and Adult Volunteers help him travel the world. H has just sent his first message from Hong Kong, thanks to hitching a lift with CI Dee! We think he’s quite happy!
2410 Sqn OC and cadets represented Thames Valley Wing and the RAF Air Cadets at the annual Oxfordshire Armed Forces Day Flag Raising.
Cadets were busy at 966 (Wallingford) Sqn, completing their Radio Operator Course! Cadets learnt about the phonetic alphabet, radio procedures and how radios work!
On Friday the 2nd of June 1861 Wantage Squadron and 2121 Abingdon Squadron visited RAF Brize Norton and had a super time visiting departments of the station ranging from Air Movements Operations to Air Traffic Control to being shown around transport aircraft based at RAF Brize Norton. Cadets and adult volunteers from 2410 Didcot Squadron attended the annual commemoration of the D-Day airlift from RAF Harwell where aircraft from No 38 Group transported glider borne troops as part of the D-Day invasion and liberation of France in World War II.
Cadets from 2410 Didcot Squadron joined other air cadets from across Thames Valley Wing to visit the National Arboretum and pay their respects at various memorials to service members of the UK and Commonwealth armed forces and civil defence services.
On Thursday the 25th of May the Deputy Wing Chaplain came to 1861 Wantage Squadron to enrol two new cadets in the RAF Air Cadets. Welcome to the RAFAC family and we hope you give everything a try and exceed in all you do!
2121 Abingdon Squadron supported the Abingdon Air and County Show on Saturday the 20th of May. The show was held on the former RAF Abingdon station, now Dalton Barracks. The cadets and adult volunteers of the squadron provided support to the show organisers but it was not all work, the cadets had the opportunity to go airside and meet the display pilots and groundcrew in between displays and be shown around the aircraft as well as watching the show.
An evening of Paddle sport with 211 Newbury Squadron on the Kennet and Avon canal!
