As a cadet with 966 Squadron you will have the chance to learn about radio communications, cyber security and aviation.
The Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, Mrs Mary Bayliss JP has presented awards to over 30 Thames Valley volunteer staff and cadets at a glittering ceremony held at Edward Brooks Barracks near Abingdon.

RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire was the venue for one of the premier courses to be held in Thames Valley Wing as a group of cadets, drawn from across the Wing and identified by their Commanding Officers as having the potential for promotion to the rank of Cadet Corporal, were schooled in the basic skills required to perform this task.
The 22 candidates, guided by 4 extremely experienced members of Air Cadet staff and a senior staff cadet were put through their paces in a mixture of classroom instruction and practical exercises covering subjects such as drill and leadership. Over the past month, a team of cadets from Wallingford Squadron Air Training Corps (ATC) has been taking part in competitions against other cadets in the south west.
Every year, cadets from all 27 squadrons in Thames Valley Wing compete against each other in several events, including photography, best website, aircraft recognition, drill and public speaking. Over 400 Cadets and staff from Thames Valley Wing helped the RAF celebrate its 90th anniversary in style, with a parade at RAF Halton.
The Reviewing Officer, who inspected all 400 cadets and 30 staff on parade, was Group Captain Richard Gammage, Station Commander RAF Halton. Other VIPs included Air Commodore John Lamont from MoD Abbey Wood and the Mayors of Witney and Abingdon. Continue reading →
Almost 30 Thames Valley Wing Cadets, Staff and Civilian Committee Members have been awarded prestigious awards by Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Gordon Moulds.
The awards were held at a glittering ceremony at Oxford’s Falklands House. After the awards the Commandant said “I hold the ACO Volunteer in extremely high regard as without the efforts of the volunteer there is not an organization. I am extremely pleased to have been given the opportunity to express my personal thanks and appreciation”
